home remedy

Rosewater is magical.  It smells heavenly, looks pretty, and is a delicious skin treatment.  I spray it on my face frequently throughout the day and it has done wonders for my complexion.

I have skin that is prone to redness and breakouts.  Since I’ve been using rose water on a daily basis, I have found that my skin has cleared up tremendously.  I’ve actually gotten several comments about the glow of my complexion!  Rosewater helps maintain the skin’s pH balance and has anti-inflammatory properties, which is what reduces redness and irritation.

It is hydrating, moisturizing, and revitalizing.  The fine lines surrounding my eyes have diminished drastically, as rosewater is also good for aging skin.  The best part?  Rosewater is a mood lifter!  The little spritzes throughout the day are sweet reminders to think from love, speak from love, and act from love.

I make my own batch once a week.

My Recipe:

⅛ cup of dried rose petals

¾ cup of water (distilled)

2-5 drops of rose essential oil

small pan

strainer & cheesecloth

2 oz glass spray bottle

*heat the water to a boil (it won’t take long because it’s not a lot of water).  Once it’s boiling, turn the stove off and stir in the rose petals. Cover and let steep until the water is room temperature (I’ll usually leave it there for about an hour).  Strain the liquid through a strainer and cheese cloth, then add it to the spray bottle. Add the essential oil and voila! Store in your refrigerator for several weeks or at room temperature for up to one week.

THAT’S IT!  It’s so cheap and so easy.  I use a 2oz glass spray bottle because rosewater is best when it’s fresh.  I find that if I make a batch that's too big, it loses its potency.  I keep it in my purse and spray it on my face upon waking, when driving, after yoga, or if I need a break from being on the computer.  It always zaps me back into the scrumptious present moment.
